TRACOE Twist Tracheostomy Tube with Low-Pressure Cuff (REF 301)

The TRACOE Twist is a medical-grade tracheostomy tube featuring a low-pressure cuff design for adults requiring ventilation support or long-term airway management. Manufactured by TRACOE Medical/Atos Medical using biocompatible polyurethane, this tube provides superior flexibility and tissue tolerance compared to traditional PVC tubes.

The tube's distinctive double-swivel neck flange moves along both vertical and horizontal axes, conforming to patient head movements and reducing pressure points. This anatomically curved design enhances comfort during extended wear in hospital, rehabilitation, and home care settings.

Key Features:

  • Ultra-thin wall construction maximizes internal airway diameter while minimizing external size
  • High-volume, low-pressure cuff prevents tracheal damage during ventilation
  • Two spare inner cannulas with 15mm connectors (white) for easy cleaning and replacement
  • Positive-locking inner cannula system with visual alignment arrow
  • Radio-opaque material visible on X-ray imaging
  • Medical-grade polyurethane becomes more supple at body temperature

Specifications:

  • Material: Medical-grade polyurethane (PU)
  • Available sizes: 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10 (size indicates inner cannula diameter in mm)
  • Cuff type: Low-pressure, high-volume
  • Package contents: Outer cannula with cuff, 2 inner cannulas with 15mm connectors, perforated obturator (sizes 06+), wide adjustable neck strap, product info card with labels

Contraindications: Not suitable for patients with severe tracheal stenosis without medical assessment. Requires proper sizing based on patient anatomy. Trained healthcare personnel must perform insertion and tube changes.

Prescription Required: Yes

Safety Notes: Cuff pressure must be monitored regularly (recommended: 20-30 cm H₂O) to prevent tracheal injury. The cuff must be deflated before attaching speaking valves or occlusion caps. Inner cannulas require daily cleaning or replacement to prevent airway obstruction. Emergency backup tube and obturator should always be available at bedside. Suction equipment must be readily accessible.

Variations Available:

  • REF 302: With fenestration for phonation
  • REF 303: Without cuff (uncuffed version)
